Feeling So Good! (Las Vegas, NV)

This has been a wonderful week for me.  Las Vegas is great, I'm seeing the light at the of the tunnel for three quilts, and I am featured in two Treasuries from around the world!  People on Cloud 9 ~ Make room for me!

Vintage Vegas
We spent one evening in the vintage Las Vegas downtown.  We ate dinner at Hash House a Go-Go.  It is a good thing we decided to split a salad because "Huge" salad described in the menu is an understatement!  I barely finished my half and left most of my bread behind.  They don't believe in small portions at this restaurant and it was delicious!

I can see Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack walking down the street....
Vintage Vegas
This is the Fremont Street Experience.  The canopy has thousands of LED lights and speakers setup for the light show.
There is a zipline ride that goes down the length of the canopy.  I got one good photo of four people going by over our heads.

We watched the first show with Don Mclean's "American Pie".  Talk about Retro!

Finishing up with a rocket launch.  If you can zoom in on the astronaut on the right, you can see JFK and MLK in the face shield.

On the Cutting Board
For the last couple of days, the weather has been cold and wet.  Yep, we are getting some rain.  Perfect time to work on my quilts.  I finished quilting two quilts already.
I'm almost done with the third one.  I haven't made the binding yet, so that'll be my next project - making binding for three quilts.  Sigh, it feels good to finish these three.

Featured in Two Treasuries

Two of my quilts are featured in this lovely treasury!  Thank you Lesya!  Check out some of the shops in her treasury:

Lesya lives in Russia.  Amazing how the internet has shrunk our world!  Stop by Rainbow Gerbera to see her lovely shop filled with beautiful crocheted items.
Here's the second treasury by Charo.  Thank you so much Charo! Check out some of the shops in this one:

Charo lives in Madrid, Spain and her shop is filled with beautiful detailed miniatures.

Happy Quilting!

Projects Be Done! (Patagonia, AZ)

I am crocheting the edging now!  Two more sides and this blanket will be done.  Of course, there are six more skeins waiting in the closet to be made into a second blanket...sigh, maybe I will learn someday...
#9 on my 2012 Project list I have Valentine Angel.  It is a mug rug for - well, you guessed it for Valentine's Day.  I have a feeling this one is going to be late.  I just picked out some fabric and got most of the pieces ironed on.  As soon as I finish the blanket I plan to spend most of my time working on the mug rug.

Featured Treasury!

Rose Ann from NutmegCottage featured my Star Baby quilt in her "Cozy Warm on a Cold Winter Day" Treasury.  Thank you Rose Ann for adding my quilt to your beautiful collection!

Día De Los Muertos

 Day of the Dead

I never get tired of wandering around historic Old Town Albuquerque - an old Spanish settlement founded in 1706.   There are several sites with information about the historic Old Town area.  I only picked out two of the sites. Here are a few photos I took along our walk...just to give you a taste of the old southwest....

Ristras

We walked around the Plaza surrounded by traditional adobe style buildings doing a little window shopping, wandering down little alley ways, smelling delicious spicy aromas, and viewing a variety of artwork.

It is always a peaceful walk.  I find the multi-cultural artwork and the southwest colors are very inspiring.

Old Town is getting ready to celebrate the Day of the Dead and All Souls Day.  The Mexicans have celebrated the Day of the Dead for centuries.

Later, the Spaniards moved the celebration date to coincided with their All Souls Day with the Day of the Dead to keep the ritual more Christian.

If you want to read more about the history, please click on the following links:

Today, depending on the location the Day of the Dead is celebrated in many ways.  Basically, it is a time to honor the dead by playing their favorite music and fixing their favorite foods.  This is a wonderful way to remember loved ones and to celebrate life.

Here's a Treasury filled with Day of the Dead artwork.  Enjoy!

Labor Day Treasury (Branson, MO)

I hope everyone is enjoying Labor Day weekend.  You deserve it!  Working hard all week and some will be working this weekend, but we all have one thing in common: we work hard for our money.   For those trying to find employment, I wish you all the best.  Job hunting has become a job in itself and there is a lot of competition out there.

This is a tribute to all.  I'm just sorry I could not include more.

Have a safe and happy Labor Day Weekend!
