Happy Campers Once Again (Seaside, OR)

Travel day!  Not a very long one, though.  We are moving just north of here...about 30 minutes from Seaside to Ft Stevens State Park.  Of course, now we have our new shower door and no longer need to go there.  Oh well, five more days in a state park will be extra nice with all the pathways to walk and beaches to see.
The shower door looks great, doesn't it?  Dan did a good job installing it despite the cryptic instructions.

I got out on a sunny day during the week and took some photos of the Dahlias around the campground.
We walk by these almost every day.  I had to have these for my albums.
I just loved the colors in them.  So deep and vibrant.
I love the folding petals in this bud.  They look like folded prairie points made by a quilter from the backside.  I did those once......

 On The Cutting Board
I have been working on some UFOs for donating.  No photos just yet.

I have also started on the new set of Happy Camper Mug Rugs.  I'm trying some different stitches and embellishments.
This is just a peek of what I have done so far.
Well, I need to get packing.  I have a lot of stuff spread out every where.  Amazing the messes I can make in such a short time....

Dog Day Afternoon (Florence, OR)

Okay, so it wasn't the hottest day, but there were dogs and it was a pleasantly warm afternoon.
Last weekend, we spent the afternoon in downtown Florence.  Our plan was to take a walk and do a little window shopping.  Florence was bustling with a small Farmer's Market and a car show.  We bought some fruit and Poblanos.  Then we saw the small pies...okay, I had to have the small peach/blueberry pie.  Such an unusual combination and yes, it was gooood!  Sorry, no photos of the pie, but here are some of the peaches that might end up in another pie....
The car show was fun and interesting.  I love the colors on the ones I posted here.  Very eye-catching, don't you think?

Even the dogs were having fun.  There were two of these gentle giants, but the other one was behind a car being petted by another admirer.
We walked down to the bridge at the west end of town.  This is another of Conde McCullough's bridges except this is a draw bridge.   The two bigger obelisks on this side have control rooms for the draw bridge.
There is so much detail in each bridge and each one is very unique.  Even the under side that most travelers never see has a lot of thought put into the design.  I love this cathedral looking arches.
I thought you might like some more photos from the Shore Acres State Park.  Aren't they gorgeous?  I am amazed by the different Dahlias shapes and sizes!

On The Cutting Board
I finished the Open tag for the Gift Shop sign.  I was going to use ribbon to tie it to the acorn and it just did not look right.  I needed something that looked more natural...maybe something a squirrel might pick up...so I used a piece of twine.
I think that looks better than ribbon.
I found some green and blue buttons to add to the tabs.  I would have preferred wooden ones, but I don't have them so....    My SIL said people are layering the buttons for a different look and I think these look okay.

All Things Tangled does a Friday's Favorites. This time she did a treasury for babies and added my Pink Baby's Choice Quilt to her "Oh Baby!" collection.  I hope you will stop by her blog and say hello!

Here's one of her items for sale in Etsy.  Isn't it adorable?  I wonder if I can get one of our cats to wear a hoodie?  Riiiight, well I can dream, can't I?

The Maiden of Deception Pass (La Conner, WA)

One of our many favorite stops in this area is the Rosario Beach Park.  It is a small inlet close to Deception Pass Bridge with deep waters allowing boaters to come and go.  Most of the time it is a quiet area, but once in a while a naval jet fighter will fly over to remind us that we are not far from civilization.  I love coming here and walking along the beach area.
view from the pier
This is a Samish story pole called The Maiden of Deception Pass.  There's an interesting story about her printed on plaques surrounding her.  So I find myself watching people slowly circling her while they read her story.   I also found a page on the carving with pictures of the story pole here.
They say you can still see the Maiden's hair floating in the Deception Pass waters....

We spent some time watching the Swallows zip around us.  I did not even try to take their pictures since I'm sure I would either miss or get nothing but a blur of a black streak across the photo.  Then Dan noticed one sitting on a cross beam just below the pier.  When we looked a little closer, there were quite a few sitting on the the cross beams resting.

At the Car Wash
This gorgeous Dahlia was growing outside the car wash's office.  I wonder how many people stop to take photos of it?

On The Cutting Board

Finished the top for the gift shop wall hanging.  I have plenty of leftover batting so I should be able to finish this one up soon.

Well, right after I finish another wall hanging top that I just started.  I'll show it to you next time.

I'll leave you with this cute clip that SpartanBabe shared with me from the "Emperor's New Groove.   It's very funny!  Lots of Squeakers in this clip....
