Quilts For The Summer (Glenrock, WY)

We had a small group of American Goldfinches stop by yesterday.  I will be able to do a little bird watching here.  I watched two Red-tailed hawks chase off a Bald Eagle down by the river.  It was one of those moments when I wish I had my camera.  Then again, it happened so fast, I'm not sure I would have been able to get a good shot of the fight.
On a different day, there were three Bald Eagles doing large slow circles over the campground, up the river, and over the town.  They did this several times while I was outside with the cats.  You can bet I kept my eye on them when they were over the campground.

Doesn't this dried out Yucca pod have some interesting texture?  I was tempted to pick a few, but what would I do with them?  I decided a photo was a better idea.  Best to leave them alone and let Mother Nature do her thing.  Besides, the cats would have chewed them to pieces.
On The Cutting Board
I took a break from making Happy Campers since the interest in them has slowed down.  Time to get these quilts in my shop.
Scrappy Sunbonnet Babies
This time, I decided to pre-wash all my finished lap quilts.  All the photos are after being washed.
Jungle Stars
I thought washing all the quilts might help anyone who is worrying about how well my quilts will hold up to washing.  Colors did not run.  My applique's and sewing did not fall apart.  My quilts are made to be used.
Travelers!
Now that the weather is starting to get sunny with less wind, I got some good photos of all of them.
Summer Siesta
I changed the names on some of the quilts with the hope that it will attract more views in Etsy.
Spring Fantasy
So, I have six quilts listed my Etsy shop.

Oh!...I almost forgot....and one new wall hanging...
Bad Kitty's Welcome
Dan is working some long hours helping out the owner meet his deadline.  They are trying to get four full hook-up sites in by mid-June.  In the meantime, I am off until Friday...soooooo, I think I'll get out my scrap bags and get a little sewing done.
Happy Quilting!

Two New Quilts Listed (Bridgeport, TX)

Yesterday, I listed the two quilts I have been working on for the last couple of months on Etsy.com.  I have listed both as "One Of A Kind" since I don't plan to duplicate either one of them.

I love both quilts, but I have to admit my favorite is the Art Nouveau Garden Quilt. I had a lot of fun sewing this one together.  I am already looking back through the Art Nouveau clipart book for more ideas.  Yep, I got a few, I just got to see what is in my stash.  Oh! My fingers are already itching to get back to some more appliqué work.  More photos are in Quiltincats Fan Page.

Travel Day!
Today, is another travel day for us. We will be in Fredericksburg tonight and plan to stay for a few days before heading to Hondo, TX.

Albuquerque!
For my Albuquerque friends: it looks like we will only be spending the last week of October at the base.  Depending on the weather, we might stay longer.

Back to Kokopeli (Branson, MO)

I finished the first Kokopeli.  This one is the smaller of the two.  I like the faded black material.  Kokopeli looks more like a shadow on the quilt and doesn't take a way from the quilt design.

The second Kokopeli is a lot bigger so I will have to tack it down real good so it doesn't slide around.  The border will be made with the same material.  He will look like he is coming out of the bottom corner border.

Tacked down.  Now sewing.
I'm going to keep this one short today.  I really want to get back to my sewing.  Happy Quilting!

I Need My Therapy! (Charleston, SC)

My Quilt Therapy that is….ha! I had you going, didn't I?

I had to take a break from quilting this week.  It has been a rough week without my quilting therapy….sigh…. I had to go to Urgent Care on Monday after accidentally wounding my wrist.  I bled a little and thought no big deal until the next morning when the wound was swollen and red.  I knew the infection was moving into my muscles when my fingers started twitching.  There’s nothing like having my own fingers waving back at me as if they have a mind of their own.

Hmm….anyway, I ended up on antibiotics, got a lecture on NO sewing for at least a week, and I had to keep my wrist elevated above my heart.  Yep, I got real good with surfing the TV and websites with my left hand, but I really missed relaxing with one of my projects.  The rhythmic motion of the needle going in and out of fabric, the wonderful feeling of accomplishment as the blocks come together and even ripping out stitches can be therapeutic at times.  Groan!

Isn’t it amazing how one hobby can keep a person feeling sane and relaxed?

Kokopeli SW Lap Quilt
Well, before I got put on rest detail, I was working on a SW Kokopeli lap quilt and I was just starting on another lap quilt using Laura Burch’s Cats fabric.  I love the cat fabric so much that I have decided to keep this one for myself.  This will be the first quilt I have made just  for me.  I have made one large quilt for Dan and I, but never one for me.

Open For Business on Etsy.com

Day 1 of 365 days ~ Dusty
Many of my friends have suggested I should sell my quilts.  Well, I finally did it!  I have opened a quilt shop on Etsy.com.  Please take a moment to browse through my shop.  Link to QuiltinCats Quilt Shop on Etsy.com.  I know a lot of you think the prices are very low, but I would rather sell and share my quilts than let them collect dust waiting for someone to buy them.

I finished the two Baby's Choice quilts. Since I used fabric with teddy bears, I decided to appliqué
teddy bears hanging hearts and stars on the quilt.  I love this pattern!  It is amazing what a difference color placement can make on the same pattern. I might have to make another one since I thought of a third color variation while playing with my EQ6 program.

We are making our way north along the East coast. We have made it as far as southern Georgia. It is soooo Hot and humid here that I can no longer sew outside. Even in the morning and in the shade! Whew! If I take one of the cats outside, they immediately look for shade and start panting. Since I cannot sit outside, Dan suggested I setup my folding table inside so I could keep quilting. There's just enough room to slide by if one of us needs to go outside. Now I can sit up front in the passenger seat and quilt until I drop! I have a great view out the front window and air conditioning!
Sizzling Hot! Day 2 of 365
I have also taken on the challenge to post one picture each day for 365 days on 365 Project website.  I think this will help me to improve my photo taking and to become a little more creative.  Okay, it is just another excuse to take more pictures!  LOL!
