Haystacks, Lighthouses, and Flowers (Seaside, OR)

I haven't been working on any of my projects.  We finally have TV and I am enjoying watching the last week of Olympics.  It is hard to sew when there's fantastic athletes competing for gold.  I missed most of the swimming and gymnastics, but I got to see Misty and Kerri win gold in Beach Volley Ball.  That made up for missing my two favorite events.

We have been getting out and visiting the area.  Seaside is just as lovely as I remember it.  We walked along Seaside's Promenade along the beach and then around the downtown area.  So here are a few of the sights that caught my eye...

Quaint gingerbread style beach houses...

Isn't this a darling fence?  Love birds in the garden.
 People and birds mingling together.
Psst!  Can I have the extra coffee?
 Retro and bright colors....
along with lighthouse style buildings adds a wonderful festive feel to the downtown area.
We stopped by the Carousel Mall to watch the carousel.  I would ride the seahorse!
 Flowers everywhere....

We visited the Ecola State Park south of Seaside on Hwy 101 and just north of Cannon Beach.   I was taking a landscape view when this seagull decided to fly through.  Usually it is people walking through my shots.

We had a great view of the Tillamook Rock Lighthouse.  The story of building the lighthouse and maintaining it is quite a defeat against weather and sea.

Last, but not least...this little guy was sitting pretty on what looks like a dry Queen Anne's Lace flower.  I'm not sure if he has been in a fight and lost feathers or if he is so young that all his feathers have not grown in yet.  Either way, he was quite calm about sitting in an open spot watching the people walk by.
Happy Trails!
