Last Post for 2012 (Patagonia, AZ)

Happy New Year!
So, another year has zipped by.  The older I get, the faster they seem to gooooooo!  But..it has been a good year filled with memories of family, friends, and adventures.  I would not change a single moment.  Well, okay, maybe a few moments...like those "hay-fever" days or that "darn-headache-won't-go-away" day.
Enjoy photos of Lesser Goldfinches while you read. :0)
New Year's Resolutions?  I don't have any new ones for 2013, but I do plan to continue the ones I started last summer.  Yea, I was a little late getting started.  It only took me six months to really get motivated.
My first resolution was to cut back on computer time.  I was beginning to feel like I spent a good 7 hours on my laptop.  My neck and shoulders were telling me all about it every morning. I realized that I wasn't spending any time doing what I enjoy the most - quilting and photography.  This 2012 resolution is going well and I'm getting a lot more projects done.
Also mid-summer, I changed my eating habits to healthier lighter choices.  So far, I have lost 7 pounds.  I hope to lose another 10 pounds before the end of 2013.  Slow and easy.  This is one resolution I will keep for the rest of my life.  I certainly do feel better.
We already have plans for 2013.  We plan to meet my brother at Zion National Park.  Dan and I have been there twice, but we have never walked the Narrows.  Hopefully, we will be able to walk the Narrows while we are there.  If not, it'll still be a great time visiting with my brother and seeing the sights.
General plans include heading back to the NW coast.  We did not get enough of it last time.  We also plan to visit our families again.
This next one is for  my sister-in-law and me:  We are going to Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show!  WhooHoo!  washing-machine dance....washing-machine dance....oh sorry...I get a little excited over the idea that I will finally get to see the town of Sisters covered in QUILTS!  Ever since I saw Sisters on Simply Quilts with Alex Anderson many, many years ago, I have wanted to go.  Sigh!  This is going to be such a wonderful year!

On The Cutting Board
True to my resolution, I have been working on several projects and I am finally finishing a few of them. This is my second Bear Hugs quilt for children.  I hope to get it quilted during our next two days off.  This will be another Project Linus quilt.
Wishing everyone a safe and healthy new year.  So, what are your plans for this year?  hmmmm?

  5. Sandy, thank you for your time, pictures, and words in your blog. I will admit that you and your blog have become a habit :) You are such an encouragement to me. We are not full-timers and I am still trying to get used to short term living in a RV. For your ability to make anywhere a home - I really admire you. This year I hope to get more projects completed and improve quilting skills as I go along. Happy New Year and Thanks again. Linda

    1. Thank you Linda and a Happy New Year to you! I love traveling! I have had lots of practice with moving. Dad was in the Navy and hubby was Air Force career. I had a harder time staying in one spot for more than a few years. A big plus for me - seeing more of our family. They are spread out all over the US.

  7. Sandy, I know you will have a great 2013 if you go to the Sisters Quilt Show. Having lived in the Portland area for 25 years, my daughter and I have gone to Sisters almost every year. Wonderful! Also, I enjoy my mug rugs you made all the time and also love the new cow. Keep up the good work. Pat Beard

  8. Beautiful photos, Sandy, as always!
Your resolutions are a lot like mine are for this new year 2013. One of mine is to get fit with exercise. I have goals of exercising at least 4 days of the week, for at least 30 minutes each day. Ideally, I would like to exercise every day, but I'll start with 3-4 days and work my way up. =0)
I also realized that I need to cut back on computer time, so another of my resolution goals is to work on my time management.
Thanks for being such a great bloggy friend. Happy New Year to you!!! May it be filled with smiles, laughter and love.

  9. Beautiful birds those Finches are! I especially like the 2nd and 3rd photos that show the birds in flight. Amazing!
I prefer the little birds over the big....we have a family of 9 wild turkeys that terrorize our property, they make a huge mess. :(

I have never heard of the Sisters Quilt Show, and we live not too far from there. We might have to stop in and see it this year :)
